The Smiddy, The Clachan

The Smiddy is in the "Clachan", which is the old village centre of Strachur, just off the main A815 road, behind the petrol station.
If you are in Strachur you will see signs pointing to The Smiddy. Click on MAP
Due to the current Covid 19 situation the Smiddy will be open Saturdays and Sundays only, 1-4pm and for one group at a time. However, the blacksmith works in the smiddy most, if not all weekends, so you will have the opportunity to see him making fire pokers in the traditional way and ask him as many questions as you'd like!.
Please remember to wear a mask and stand 2M apart. Hand sanitiser will be available.

- Watch the selection of films on the Smiddy’s history, how to make a horseshoe and the opening day of the Museum.
- Purchase a souvenir such as a horseshoe made by the blacksmith, or other locally made gift from the craft shop. Crafts include pottery, cards, candles, soaps, postcards, or photographs with which to remember your visit to the Strachur Smiddy Museum and Craft Shop.
